No Jail for Libby

How will President Bush's decision commuting Libby's prison sentence affect the 2008 elections? Will it be just a blip on the screen, largely forgotten in a few months or will it add to the perception that he wants to cover up how his administration got us into the Iraq War?

I think that the American people are inured to Bush's cynical moves by this point. I really doubt it will have much of an impact on politics in the US. It will be another example, however, to tarnish his "legacy."

Bush commuting Libby’s sentence, in my opinion will hurt the republicans come the 2008 elections. Not only does it throw more suspicion on president for how much he knew about the leaking of the CIA operative. It also hurts the republicans running that are close to the president and have agreed with him on all issues since bush took office. If these republicans want to have a chance in 2008 they need to start distancing them self’s from the president. I doubt that the American people will fall for the same trick twice anyway.
